"An easy commute with the Elizabeth line"

Date Posted

After years of renting, which allowed the flexibility to move around the country for work, first-time buyer Sally decided it was time to take her first step onto the property ladder. Needing to be in the capital for work three days a week, the commute from Slough was an attractive choice thanks to the speed and reliability of the Elizabeth Line.

“Living on the Elizabeth Line means I feel so close to the city – I almost don’t feel like I’m moving out of London. It’s the same commute as I used to do within the city, but now I have more space in a beautiful development.”

“I considered some other Shared Ownership apartments in London, however I felt like I was compromising on space for a city location, whereas within minutes of arriving at Horlicks Quarter I knew this was the place for me. I can enjoy the amazing facilities and beautiful country surroundings and yet within 40 minutes I’m able to be back in London.”

“The two days I work from home I don’t have to spend in my flat, as I can use the co-working space at Horlicks Quarter. There are plenty of other facilities I plan to use, including the gym, and I have exciting plans to invite friends for rooftop drinks before heading into Windsor or back to the capital.”

Sally knew she wanted to purchase her new two bedroom apartment via Shared Ownership. “My affordability is relatively high, but I didn’t have the huge deposit that buying a home on the private market requires. Some of my friends have purchased their homes via Shared Ownership and advocated for this home ownership model, so I realised it was the best option to move forward without having lots in the bank.”

“I paid a 5% deposit on my share of the flat, which is a 35% share of a two bedroom apartment with the full value of £380,000. If I was looking to rent again, the outgoings would be the exact same – the only difference is that I’m paying towards ownership, which I love.”

“I love hosting friends, and it was important to me that they could easily reach the capital to make the most of their stay. One of my best friends lives in Essex on the opposite end of the Elizabeth Line – it’s a small thing but knowing we are on the same line and have a direct route to each other is amazing.”

“I can’t wait for my friends to see the development for themselves. It’ll be great to reserve the cinema room for their children and to also make the most of an on-site gym.”
